Noobs helps me think about the year ahead. Such a good kitty. It’s a new year. 365 days can take it out of you. Are we even allowed to rest? Is anybody resting? I don’t have resolutions, I have goals. The announcement of these goals are only to bring them to the table. But, before those goals, what about the rest? What about the wheels and plates already spinning? And, should I get another cat? Should I buy a computer? Should I take a trip to Mexico? Can I afford any of this? Can anyone?

Some say its a list of things that are already on the list. They are mostly things we do in the background when we remember that its a space we want to be in. So, goals are reminders to be placed on your reminders list with some prominence. Yellow highlighter. Bold font. So, as they stream from my brain, my goals for the new year…

  1. Represented Theatre Company - It’s time to turn on the lights again. Perhaps force myself into an office and seriously make a go of it. Even though I do not need an office, I need some structure. Some deduction. Imagine, coming to the office to research plays and write new ones. Go to meetings and take in more theatre. Complimentary to the podcasts go along with it all.

  2. Em3ry - I have several podcast ideas fleshed out. They need moments of time to see them through. Every year, I ask the same question, is this the last year of Rep Radio, or as it currently stands? Hire engineers and move forward with the new podcasts.

  3. Dayjob - Is it time to look beyond this? If so, what else is out there for me? Would looking beyond this, shine a light on #1 and a brighter light on #2? Maybe, a simple re-thinking of priority.

  4. Me - What can I do for myself? How can I take the best care of myself and be aware of what I want? How to make space for all of me. The Gemini. The Producer. The Writer. The IT Guy. The Boyfriend. The Friend. The Grandson. The Sibling. The Son.

  5. Bae - I never call him that. I think I carve a good amount of time out for him…us. Am I doing enough to support him. Does he know how much I care for him? Do I do enough to remind him of that?

  6. Friends - Make time for them. Remind them that they matter. Identify opportunities for them to grow as well.

  7. Travel - Well, it doesn’t look like I’ll be debt-free any time soon. So, why not expense a little joy? Proper itemizing for balance. #1 and #2 both share a trip to Edinburgh. #3 allows for a trip to Austin.

  8. Bake - Continue to bake and challenge myself. I’m working towards a good collection of signatures. Pastries I can make without much effort. I want to make sure I have enough basics to get started in the kitchen when I feel like making magic.

  9. Gather - I want to go to and have more gatherings. Why couldn’t we invite someone over every weekend?

  10. Pull Focus - Lead with what makes me unique. Draw attention for what I am most passionate about.

This is a good list of goals. Questions. Thoughts. For the most part, I chip away at these things all the time. There are opportunities that I cannot see if some current obligations are in the way. Sometimes, its good to take stock in the immediate past, in order to see if changes should be made for the future. This is when I realize, there is not enough time in the day. My sanity matters most. I am in control of my own life. If it is important, It will be done. When you are done, you are done. I could go on forever. Prioritize Priorities. Focus. Simplify. We will see what happens.
