FOUND (Bites) - Coming Out Into Your Own

Rainbows. Everywhere. Love is Love. Smiles. No protesters. Law enforcement keeping us all safe. Stickers. Everyone is finding a way to show their pride. Pride for a community. Nobody parties like the marginalized.

So many brands have transformed their logos to pander to us. We grab all the freebies and leaves the most important information behind. We’re not here to figure out who to vote for. Our focus now is Trans Rights.

On a corner, a newly trans woman gets a make over. It’s a beautiful sight to see. She is becoming her true self. All shapes and sizes turn up. We touch base with people we only see at events like this. Here, we don’t have to make an effort, instead, it’s somewhat of an obligation.

There are families decked out in rainbows. Kids and their parents. This is their normal. It’s fun. Why’s not to like? Even our transit system is in on it all.

Tomorrow, we’ll go back to our average lives. Work at our average jobs and try not to be too much of ourselves as to not make the ignorant, uncomfortable. Does any of this matter? To those who have recently come out, it does. To those who continue to downplay who they are, not so much. At least their are more women making themselves known.

The weather shows up for us. The sun shines on a block party that looks like any other. Then, the rainbows. Popular music is the universal language. This energy lasts for several blocks. The further away from the fest, the easier it is to return to life. But, what if life was this...gay?

She’s done. The makeover. And, she is beautiful. If only she could be herself everyday or her life. You know, like everyone else. We should all feel entitled to be ourselves, all the time.
